948912_ico_id_2.jpgWhere do you think of new blogging ideas? Are you at a loss for ideas and have been staring at your computer screen frustrated because you can’t think of what to write about? I know what it feels like to have writer’s block or in this case blogger’s block. As a blogger, I want to minimize the chances of this “block” occurring. If I don’t take responsibility for thinking of new ideas at the right times, I waste too much time. If you can’t think of new ideas, this article will definitely help you to get your brain into a mental state where endless ideas seem to “flow” with little or no effort.

827354_shower_head.jpg1) Hop off in the shower — For me, the best place to think of new blogging ideas has always been in the shower. Each morning I try to take a nice hot shower and relax. After about 5 minutes of feeling the hot steamy shower water, my mind flows with new ideas and it is really easy for me to write an article very quickly. I must say, sometimes after I get out of the shower for 5 minutes or so, it is tough to remember all of the ideas that I thought of in the shower. I highly recommend you give this one a shot. Allow yourself to take a hot steamy shower for about 10 to 15 minutes and try to think of ideas. I think you’ll find that thinking of new ideas in the shower is a great idea! It has saved me time and has kept my mind from drawing a blank for blogging ideas. It will definitely help to have a piece of paper ready for when you get out of the shower to write up a bunch of ideas! I usually think of around 5 new ideas each day to blog about just from the hot shower technique. Test this one out and let me know how well it worked out!

844295_dumbbell.jpg2) Working out at the gym — While working out you can still think. Chances are that if you workout at the gym, you will be doing individualized exercising. When doing ab-crunches on the machine or curling dumbbells, you can be thinking of new ideas. You may be thinking about your weights and blogging at the same time and think of an article like “how blogging is like strength training.” Then when you get home from the gym, you can branch off of your initial idea and create an easy outline for your next blog post. It’s definitely a good idea to bring along a notebook to keep track of your running times on one page and all blogging ideas that you thought of on a different page. If you are an exercise nut, or just someone that wants to stay in good shape and be healthy, and happen to run a blog — use the time spent working out to think of new ideas! You’ll definitely be impressed with the results.

25950_cheerios.jpg3) Eating frosted cheerios – Though you may still feel a bit groggy while eating breakfast (especially if you’re not a morning person), you still can definitely use your brain and think of new blogging ideas. In the 15 to 20 minutes it usually takes me to eat a healthy balanced breakfast, I get my brain going by thinking of none other than new topics to blog about. I’ll admit that I’m not a morning person and usually feel zoned-out until the afternoon, but when I feel zoned out, I can still think of a lot of new ideas. I usually feel better after breakfast and am able to easily branch off of any existing ideas. If you aren’t eating breakfast: START — it gives your brain a huge boost before writing. Between taking a shower and eating breakfast, your morning should be filled with phenomenal new ideas!

901196_driver.jpg4) While you’re driving — While you are driving to work, you can still use your brain and think of new blogging ideas. While on the road is one of the best times to think of new ideas. You have time to yourself — why not use it to better your blog. Almost everyone has a car and drives someplace each day. If you drive someplace each day, there’s absolutely no excuse not to have a new idea to blog about. Many people are probably completely unaware that they could use time spent driving to actually “think.” If it helps, turn off your radio to avoid getting distracted by the music. People don’t realize the time each day that can be put to productive use while driving. Taking a road trip soon? Maybe the rest of your family or friends fall asleep and your still wide awake. Think of some new blogging ideas and write them down. If you’ve got nothing better to do when taking a road trip, start thinking of new ideas!

939777_troya.jpg5) Take a walk in the park — You’ve got to admit that when you go to the park, chill out in nature, and feel the fresh air, your mind feels clear and you can naturally think of great ideas. You see other people, animals, trees, and just feel “free.” The atmosphere of the park will make your mind flow like crazy with new blogging ideas. It helps to carry around a little notepad to jot down some blogging thoughts. If you find that your house is hectic and everybody’s stressin’, walk away from the drama and hit up the park. You should be able to think more clearly and easily be able to produce new content. Find a park bench, sit down or maybe even walk to the swings and start swinging for awhile, have some fun with your journey to the park. After you’ve thought of a new idea, find a park table and write down an outline with specific key points. By the time you get home, you will easily be able to crank out another quick blog entry!

953849_news_2.jpg6) Keep reading other blogs — I’ll admit that I do my fair share of reading other blogs to further my blogging education, keep up with the latest trends, and to think of new ideas for my own blog. I never steal blogging ideas, but I may find something interesting on another blog do a bit more research about the topic, and write about a different aspect of it or put things in a different perspective for my readers. While reading other blogs, you may come across points that you disagree with. If you want to build up some more traffic, start some drama by “calling out” the blogger that you disagree with. Gyutae Park did an excellent job “calling out” a blogger he disagreed with in article “SEO Confidence Lacking?” Gyutae happened to call out Courtney Tuttle, a well-known blogger with a large reader base. If you are considering “calling out” another blogger, do it in a friendly way and stay positive. Two people can disagree on who to vote for in the 2008 presidential elections, yet still have a great debate and still maintain a friendship. When reading other blogs it is almost too easy to find another new idea to blog about. I’ve been getting to the point where my idea list is getting overcrowded!
