contest.jpgI always enjoy checking what sort of contests are going on in the blogosphere. If there is a worthy contest, I’ll always let my readers know! Well, the time has come for me to let you all know that The University Kid is throwing one of the biggest blogging contests of all time! Basically, Jason (webmaster at The University Kid) asked a ton of websites to sponsor prizes for his latest contest. If you head over to his site, you will see that him taking the time to ask other bloggers for prize donations really helped out.

Why would anyone sponsor a prize in this contest?

  • To get free extra-exposure – Being a contest sponsor usually gets your website some quality promotion at the contest-holder’s website. In this case, The University Kid wrote up mini-reviews of all the websites that helped sponsor prizes and featured links to their websites next to the prize that they sponsored.
  • To become business partners – If someone asks you to sponsor a contest, it is probably a good idea to help out! If you would like some help from the webmaster of the site that you helped sponsor in a contest, they will probably be very glad to help you out or give you some advice. It is also good to form good business relationships with other sites.
  • Your future contests — If you ever have a contest on your website to help beef up RSS statistics and increase visitors, sites that you’ve previously sponsored will be much more likely to help sponsor prizes. If you don’t help out sites when they are having a contest, they probably won’t return the favor. It’s common sense that if you lend someone a hand when they ask, they will do the same for you.
  • To make a good impression – Being a contest sponsor helps you make a good impression in the blogosphere. It shows that you aren’t a “cheapskate” and are willing to help out another site when they are in need. It really looks good on your “blog resume” and will definitely increase the credibility of your online image.

What prize would I like to win most?

I would like to win the $700 dollar blog video review by Marcus Hochstadt. I think it would really provide me with some valuable information as to how I should improve my website and online image. I like watching video a lot more than reading a review. Marcus seems to have online credibility and I’d really be interested as to what he has to say about my site. If it’s valued at $700 dollars, it’s got to be pretty damn valuable. If he provided some quality advice, I think it would really help take my blog to the next level!

What are the effects of a big contest like this?

  • Increased visitors — No doubt this contest will go viral and significantly increase the amount of visitors to TUK’s website. With such valuable prizes, it’s not a contest that will go unnoticed. In fact, I expect the contest will have a huge affect on the number of future visitors and RSS subscribers to TUK’s website!
  • Increased RSS subscriber numbers — I would really be really surprised if this contest doesn’t get TUK past the 500 RSS subscriber mark! Such a huge contest attracts virtually all bloggers in hopes of winning a prize. People will naturally want to be subscribed and stay subscribed because TUK has a nice theme, he writes good content, and because they will be interested in his future contests.
  • More money from advertising — It’s a guarantee that Jason’s advertising prices will go up after the contest due to the huge numbers of people that will be frequently visiting his site. Jason will most likely take advantage of the large number of new visitors to his site by upping the ante for advertisements, links, and reviews.

Mini-Review Of The University Kid:

The University Kid is run by a “kid” (16 year old) named Jason whose goal is to make money online. The site has a unique customized theme that really helps him personally brand his name throughout the blogosphere. Jason has been blogging for awhile and has been successful thus far with his online experiences. I personally enjoy checking up on Jason’s progress and hope that he is able to achieve his online goals. The University Kid has a fresh appeal to the younger online money makers, and showcases some nice content. Jason seems to be a focused, determined, young man that’s working hard to make money online.

Get in before the contest ends!
