If you won the lottery today…
If you won the lottery jackpot today and had all of your finances settled would you throw a big party and skip blogging for the day? …Or would you immediately share the fact that you won the lottery with your blog readers? Winning a large amount of money is exciting, feels great, and has potential to make the financial part of life much easier! What I want to know from you: “If you won the lottery, would you still blog?” Be completely honest with me and yourself… feel free to share your response in the comments section below… I am very curious to find out. Would the jackpot winnings influence you to change direction in life and cut back on blogging? Would you convince yourself to quit blogging altogether? I have been asking myself this question for awhile and have wondered how my career as a blogger would be affected if I won the lottery.
Why people would stop blogging after winning the lottery:
Would you still have the same niche?
If you managed to win a large sum of money and would still be a blogger… would you still be involved in the same niche that you’re currently in? There are many people around the web that are involved in niches that they just aren’t passionate about. Too many people have really hopped on the John Chow bandwagon and think that they’ll have the same money-making success as John if they quick start a “make money online blog” and slap ads everywhere. I would be willing to bet that the majority of the people that hopped on the bandwagon in hopes for quick money would quickly quit blogging if they won a bunch of money. What would I do? Personally, I would maintain Andrew Pavelski dot com, my other blogs, and start up a few more online projects. What would you do: stay involved with the same niche? Or switch to one that you’re truly passionate about?
Would you consider outsourcing some work?
I would definitely consider outsourcing some work and hiring a talented freelance writer. By outsourcing, I wouldn’t need to spend nearly as much time with content development and blog development would be much easier. I would also buy advertising space, custom themes for my blogs, and consider hiring a great person to promote my blogs. It takes money to make more money - there’s really less overall work that needs to be done if you can afford to outsource. Some people may still want full control over everything on their blogs, but most would like to have the opportunity to outsource some of their content development to a talented freelancer.
Would your posting frequency be the same?
If you had plenty of money, would you still post consistently and put forth 110% effort, or not really care how often you post? Would you post randomly once or twice a month or begin posting daily now that you have the freedom to quit your dayjob? I know that I’d post less, but still try to pack each post with as much quality content as possible. I think that it’s nice to cut the blogging workload when making money. I’m currently blogging to help others, share my knowledge, and to make money online. One of my online goals is to definitely make money and because I would naturally be slightly less motivated to make money off of my blogging projects, I’d probably post less often.
Evaluate how much influence money has on your life
It is important to evaluate your life and how much it is influenced by money. If you are looking to make money anywhere, you’ll only earn as much effort as you put into your project. Like I mentioned earlier, if you dread your dayjob and don’t really like blogging, yet think it will be a great source of income - you’re in for a rude awakening. Even if you do quit your dayjob and end up as a blogger that finds blogging boring and dreadful, you will look for another career to replace blogging - and a bad cycle of constant job-replacement begins. Do yourself a favor and ask yourself: How much influence would winning the lottery have on your blogging career? How much of an influence would it have on your life? Please share any of your thoughts and whether or not you would still blog in the comments section!

2I would stay in the Self-Improvement & Internet Business niches because I’m passionate about them. IMO: winning that much money would allow me to focus more on creating solid content, without worrying about how or if I make money online. I would outsource all design and coding.
As for other niches I’m involved in, I would outsource 95% of the work (writing, design, apps, management, etc) and allow them to continue to work for me.

3If I won the lottery I would retire from all work and volunteer, invest my money, and just enjoy life.

5I can’t say for sure what I’d do because it hasn’t happened. I think I’d quit trying to problog. But I might not. Once you’ve got money, you have to work to keep it.

6Gee, it would be a good feeling of not having to worry about money if you won the big one. Well, I’d still be blogging.no traffic jams,no bus fares,no colleagues you don’t get along with, no soggy sandwiches…..

7Well, winning the lottery would be really nice but if I have all that money and no more job, what would I be doing?
I’ll probably still blog but not as often as I do now…

8Of course, i will still blog even if I won the lottery. In fact, the money that I won, I will use to further my knowledge in blogging, study perhaps and become a really good blogger. Imagine how many customized themes I can buy with my winnings. LOL.
