The amount of content, quality of content, and marketing that your blog gets across the internet to help boost your traffic will determine how successful your website becomes and how quickly it becomes a success story. One huge myth is that if you create a website with a good design, upload a bunch of your favorite videos and pictures, it is guaranteed to attract visitors. For all the n00bs to blogging and website creation, just because you have a site with cool content, you are by no means guaranteed traffic. What will guarantee traffic is providing your readers with valuable content on a consistent basis over a long-period of time. Time is a huge factor in the blogging world, especially if you don’t have much money to spend on marketing. The longer you stick around in the industry, the more your earning potential will increase. Google and other search engines give better rankings to sites that have been around for awhile and blog readers find sites that have been around for a few years to have more reliable information, more experience, and more credibility. So if you are considering starting a blog or a website to “get rich quick,” it won’t happen. If you are planning on staying in the industry for the long-term, you will be rewarded with a nice healthy paycheck from blogging or maintaining your website.

Initially, blogging can definitely be a bad investment. Paying for a domain name, finding a reliable web-hosting company, and setting up WordPress can take up a large chunk of time — especially if you haven’t done it before! It also takes plenty of work to type new posts, promote your website, and slave with the installation of WordPress plugins. A high-quality customized theme can run bloggers several hundred dollars. Depending on what a blogger decides to do or purchase for their blog, starting up a blog can easily put a small dent into one’s bank account!
