stumbleupon.JPGI’ll be completely honest: I love using social networking programs as a way to boost monthly pageviews and to help boost my overall website traffic! My favorite of the social networking programs is StumbleUpon. StumbleUpon is the most fun for me to use, the easiest for me to use, and I consider it the current king of social networking for Andrew Pavelski dot com. Yes, I know some articles can really take off on Digg, reddit, and del.icio.us, but I haven’t played around with those as much. Within this article, I will share my current knowledge and give you some awesome tips to help you maximize your success using the social networking program StumbleUpon.

For those who don’t already have StumbleUpon:

Get it now! If you don’t have StumbleUpon, you are really missing out on one of the best ways to promote your website or blog! Submitted pages to StumbleUpon can really spread like wildfire in a very short amount of time! Below, I’ve laid out some nice directions to make things easier for you.

gyutae-wtw-tshirt.jpgGyutae Park from WinningTheWeb is having a contest that may definitely be worth your while to check out… You can win up to $650 straight cash and the total prize value is over $12,000 dollars! When he posted his contest, the prizes quickly caught my attention. A great thing about Gyutae’s contest is the fact that it should really help increase his traffic, RSS subscriber numbers, and overall visitors to his website. Gyutae is already almost at 520 RSS subscribers and was at around 480 a few days ago… It looks as though the effect from running this contest will definitely pay itself off quickly!

successful.jpgAdding to my “successful blogs” section of Andrew Pavelski dot com last week was a great analysis of John Chow dot com. As a follow up to last week’s article, I felt it appropriate to analyze John Cow dot com this week. Take away the “h” in Chow, what are you left with? A John that has been “milking the internet since 2007!” At John Cow’s blog, you will find great ways to “make mooney” online. Cow really seems to be know what he’s doing as a blogger and has really established himself well across the blogosphere. John Cow has quickly become a household name in the blogging industry!

So what exactly has made John Cow dot com successful?

The name similarity: John Cow Vs. John Chow

1300071_27663873.jpgIt’s truly been a spectacular week here at AndrewPavelski.com and in case you missed out and didn’t get a chance to check out all of my high-quality content, this little weekly wrap up will allow you to easily read my posts that you may have missed this week. Early on in the week, I discussed “John Chow dot com” and what has made his blog a success story. You can look forward to another great analysis coming up this week in my “successful blogs” series.

Following up the “successful blogs” entry, was a great article about 10 More Important Things Than Making Money Online. If you sometimes find yourself too focused on “making money online,” this article will help you realize the things that truly matter in life. I touch on why each item that I listed is more important than money - definitely a must read!

timeless.jpgIf you want to create a successful blog, you must be able to create timeless content. Cool, so what exactly is timeless content? Timeless content is a high-quality post that doesn’t just make the “daily posting” cut. It’s a post that can be read years from today and still be helpful or interesting. Timeless content is what people look for in a blog. Timeless content is what will make people return to your blog and want to participate in your community!

How do I know if I write timeless content?

If you write timeless content, people will be able to relate to the post at any time in their lives. An example of a post that isn’t totally timeless content is my post announcing the University Kid’s contest. That post does contain good information about why you should sponsor a contest, but the primary focus of the post is on the prizes you can win by entering his contest. In less than 1 month, the contest will be over and the post will be nearly irrelevant. That post is a great example of a quality “daily post,” that isn’t necessarily timeless. Below, I’ve compiled key characteristics of a timeless post.

contest.jpgI always enjoy checking what sort of contests are going on in the blogosphere. If there is a worthy contest, I’ll always let my readers know! Well, the time has come for me to let you all know that The University Kid is throwing one of the biggest blogging contests of all time! Basically, Jason (webmaster at The University Kid) asked a ton of websites to sponsor prizes for his latest contest. If you head over to his site, you will see that him taking the time to ask other bloggers for prize donations really helped out.

Why would anyone sponsor a prize in this contest?

  • To get free extra-exposure – Being a contest sponsor usually gets your website some quality promotion at the contest-holder’s website. In this case, The University Kid wrote up mini-reviews of all the websites that helped sponsor prizes and featured links to their websites next to the prize that they sponsored.

dailyhabits.jpgThe best strategy to creating a successful blog and keeping it successful is to get yourself into a daily routine. Do you currently have a specific block of time that you set aside for blogging purposes? If you don’t, I really encourage you to consider getting one. If you already do set aside a chunk of time each day for blogging, I think that you’ve probably been much more successful than someone who doesn’t set aside daily time for blogging. Below, I’ve discussed how you can get yourself into a daily blogging routine and the various benefits that follow having a good routine.

Set aside a daily chunk of time

postfreq.jpgHow often do you write a new article on your blog? Some blogs like John Chow post several times each day, while other blogs may post only once a week. It is important to understand posting frequency and how it plays an important role in building traffic and visitors. There is nothing wrong with not posting everyday, but there are some rules you should follow to help make your blog more successful!

Whatever your posting frequency, stick to it.

It would get really confusing to visit a blog or be subscribed to their RSS feed and not know their posting frequency after a couple weeks. If you are usually on a weekly posting schedule and stop posting for 2 weeks, people will naturally begin to think that your blog is dead. And truthfully, if a blog keeps failing to stick to their usual amount of posting, the overall amount of visitors will begin to decay. RSS subscriber counts will also drop simply due to the fact that your blog hasn’t been updated for awhile. I highly recommend working to stick to a certain posting frequency because it lets your readers know what to expect of your blog and when they should return to check for updates.

moreimportant.jpgWhat’s really important to you? What are your beliefs? Did you recently set up a blog for the purpose of “making money online?” It’s cool if you did — I wish you the best of luck on your journey, I’m trying to get some money too (just $10 mill’)… Making money online can definitely be fun to do, but not something that your life should revolve around. Often times we find ourselves getting caught up and so focused on money, that we lose sight of what really matters! Below I’ve written a great list of 10 things that I feel are more important than making money online!

1) Being with family — All of you would gladly trade their money made online for spending time with your family. Your brothers, sisters, mom, dad, kids, and spouse are much more valuable than any amount of money. Keep it real and be true to yourself: spend time more time with your family if you aren’t already! Family without a doubt is more important than making money online.

successful.jpgHelping kick-start my successful blogs section was my review last week of what has made The Rating Blog become the fastest growing blog in the industry. This week, I’ve decided to write up a full analysis of the guy who “makes money online by telling people how much he makes online!” John Chow is clearly above the rest when it comes to “make money online” blogs. To be honest, I have been following John’s blog for several months now and enjoy watching his earnings grow. The man is a pioneer in the “make money online” industry, has a good game-plan, and is running a successful blog!

So what has made John Chow dot com so successful?

The man is a veteran blogger
